Who are we?

Discovery Writers enjoy the written word, sharing insights, humour and drama through stories, memoirs, plays and poems.

Writers come in all shapes and sizes of back-stories and genres. We join for the serious fun of plot and circumstance, character assassination and licking dialogue. This translates into the real world at our monthly meetings.

'YOUR IDEAS' are always welcome at Discovery Writers Hurstville

What do we do?

Each year we choose a writing theme. Short 'professional development' workshops aim to enhance our writing practice through a focus on literary features. A monthly topic is not mandatory but acts as an inspiration starter.

Discovery Writers welcome all who enjoy creative writing to our friendship afternoons. Events, such as visits to Museums and Galleries, arise as the year progresses.

We have been meeting since 2007, providing opportunities for local writers through competitions, readings, workshops with speakers and publication in our anthologies.

Details: 1.00 - 3.00pm - last Tuesday of the month (except January and December), Miles Franklin room, Hurstville Library, Dora St, Hurstville.
